What you need to become a MadTaxi driver
In Latvia, taxi/passenger car commercial transport services may only be provided once all of the documents below are in order. A short overview of what to arrange and where:
Driving licence and experience
Category B driving licence, at least 3 years of driving experience, fewer than 8 penalty points, and knowledge of the state language at least at level B1.
Registration in the Taxi Drivers Register
Mandatory for all drivers. Register online or in person at the Road Transport Administration (ATD). State fee — €50, valid for 3 years.

You must be a registered merchant — either an individual merchant or a limited liability company (SIA). Register with the Register of Enterprises, then as a taxpayer with the State Revenue Service (VID).

In most of Latvia the licence is issued by ATD. In nine republic cities (including Riga, Daugavpils, Liepāja, Jelgava, etc.) taxi licensing is handled by the municipality. State fee €50, valid for 4 years.
ATD licence → In Riga (RDSD) →Licence card for the vehicle
Required for every vehicle. Before it is issued, a mandatory social insurance advance payment of €130 per month must be made for each vehicle.

An M1-category car owned or held by you, a valid technical inspection, and valid OCTA (compulsory third-party) insurance.
